Joint-It Slurry Primer 20kg Grey
A polymer modified cementitious bonding slurry with exceptional adhesion characteristics.
Are you looking for a high strength priming slurry for your porcelain, natural stone or concrete paving slabs?
Joint-It Slurry Primer is an exceptional bonding agent, creating a super strength adhesion between your paving slabs and the base underneath.
What is it slurry primer used for?
This paving primer is applied to the back of the paving slab before laying it onto the concrete base. The slurry primer serves as a bonding agent, allowing the paving material to adhere securely to the base, creating a smooth, strong and durable surface. It fills in any cracks or pores on the base, creating a smooth and even substrate for the paving slab.
Quick to apply with a brush or roller, this paving slurry only requires one coat.
Overall, priming slurry is a crucial component in the paving process, providing an effective, cost-efficient solution to create a strong, durable, and long-lasting surface. With its numerous benefits, it is an excellent choice for any paving project, whether small or large in scale.
Key Features:
- Creates Excellent Adhesion Between Paving Slabs & Concrete Base
- Long Lasting
- Only Requires Water to Mix
- Simple and Efficient to Use
- Suitable for Internal & External Applications
Benefits of Using Slurry Primer
Excellent Bond Strength
Creates an excellent bond between the paving tile and the base. This helps to prevent the tile from shifting or cracking over time, ensuring a long-lasting and durable installation.
Reduced Risk of Delamination
Porcelain slurry primer penetrates the substrate and creates a mechanical bond that reduces the risk of delamination or separation between the tile and the substrate. This ensures a stable and reliable installation.
Improved Leveling
Porcelain slurry primer fills in any voids or imperfections in the substrate, creating a level surface for the tile. This ensures that the tile installation is even and smooth, reducing the risk of tripping hazards or unsightly bumps.
How much Slurry Primer do I need?
If you are only applying to the flag, each 20KG bag will cover approx. 18m2.
If you are applying to both the flag and the base for increased bonding, each 20KG bag will cover approx. 9m2.

How do I prepare the surface before using Joint-It Slurry Primer?
Before using Joint-It Slurry Primer, it is important to ensure there is a suitable bedding mortar base as per good working practices.
When you are using on a wet mortar bed, apply Joint-It Slurry Primer to the back of the paving unit before applying to the wet mortar bed.
If laying on an existing concrete base, the base should be clean and clear of any dirt, grit, or loose particles. If should be pre-soaked with water but take care to clear away any excess standing water.
Then, apply Joint-It Slurry Primer to both the base and the paving unit to ensure adequate adhesion.
-
How to mix Joint-It Slurry Primer before applying?
Pour required amount of product contents into a mixing bucket.
Add 250ml water per 1kg of Joint-It Slurry Primer.
Mix with paddle mixer for at least 3-4 minutes to achieve desired consistency for Slurry Primer.
A semi fluid consistency should be achieved to ensure easy adhesion to substrate.
If more water is added to the mix this will reduce the strength of the product.
Product can cure quickly depending on weather
conditions.
Use product within 1 hour of mixing.
-
How do I apply Joint-It Slurry Primer?
-
Always test a small area before beginning works.
Apply Joint-It Slurry Primer using a stiff brush with a thickness of 1-2mm to the back of the paving slab before placing onto the bedding mortar.
Joint-It Slurry Primer should be used immediately after mixing product. It should have a wet flowable consistency.
Priming of paving slab should take place immediately prior to placing on bedding mortar.
If Joint-It Slurry Primer has begun to cure before applying do not use.
For increased adhesion, you can apply a 1-2mm coat directly onto the base as well as the slab, before placing the slab down.
-
When not to use Joint-It Slurry Primer?
Joint-It Slurry Primer should only be used in rigid applications. Do not use in temperatures below 5°C or above 30°C. The paving or mortar base should not be frozen prior to priming.
-
How should Joint-It Slurry Primer be stored?
Must be stored in original unopened packaging away
in an ambient, dry area.
-
Does it have an expiry date?
Joint-It Slurry Primer must be used within 6 months of date of manufacture. Use of this product after this period or storing incorrectly may increase the risk of an allergic reaction.
